Toxic Exposure Conference Calls For Big VA Reform

August 08, 2020

A group of very big names are joining forces this Friday evening to have an open discussion on toxic exposure among veterans and the necessary reforms to get those vets treatment, care, and access to disability resources. The Military Toxic Exposure Conference will feature veterans and organization leaders that have experienced first-hand the effects of Burn Pits on veterans’ health. Hosted by Burn Pits 360; to learn more details about this event, click here.

The conference will feature:

·        Former VA Secretary David Shulkin

·        Toxic-exposure-claims expert Kerry Baker

·        Pulmonologist Dr. Robert Miller

·        Dr. Anthony Szema, a pulmonologist and allergy/immunology specialist

·        John Feal, 9/11 first-responder and founder of the Feal Good Foundation

·        Also Comedian Jon Stewart

Shulkin, who served from February 2017 through March 2018, said that much of his time was spent handling the after-effects of the Vietnam War. Veterans seeking care for their exposure to herbicides like Agent Orange.  Shulkin feels very strongly about the neglect of care countless veterans experience when applying for disability benefits. Citing it’s our obligation to fight a sense of powerlessness that nothing can be done.

Organizers of the conference say the goal of the event is to inform the public, our veterans, and our country, that this is an issue that needs to be dealt with; that it will not, “go away”. Hoping this conference will kick off a revolution for change, organizers hope Congress will consider and pass legislation presuming veterans who’ve spent time around burn pits were exposed to these toxic fumes. If this were to happen, it would greatly improve the current claims process and better allow disabled veterans the opportunity to be approved.
