Edible Crayons… for Marines?

This year has no doubt given us a lot to joke about, but we never thought it would get to this point. After years of jokes and memes, being labeled a branch whose personnel have a certain taste for a waxy children’s writing utensil. Marines past and present can rejoice, edible crayons are here – with assorted colors too!
As far as rivalries go, anyone who has served in uniform knows the stereotypes of their branch. But the old adage that Marines enjoy crayons as a light-snack after learning “How-To War” from coloring books is perhaps the most well-known or meme-worthy of the lot.
It all began when Tashina Coronel, a Marine Corps veteran, and owner of Okashi Sweets, decided she would start selling crayons that Marines could eat. She also threw in edible-glue for good measure.
Okashi said, “The crayons started as an inside joke between services,” She went on to say, “It was actually a jab at Marines from other services, trying to make fun of us. But as Marines, we can laugh along with them and own it as our own.” Much like most things on the internet, something beginning as a complete joke has spread like wildfire amongst the online community. No matter which way you take this, it’s nice to see some news that isn’t all negative.
