Medical Diagnosis, Military & Gaming, Silver Star Award
March 03, 2021
This week on 4 Minutes With LHFV, Veterans Disability Attorney Jim Fausone will discuss why you need a Medical Diagnosis for your VA disability claim, a Veterans Radio Podcast featuring James Barber from Military.com discussing the Military’s gaming culture, and a brief history of the Silver Star Award, courtesy of Home of Heroes.
Why You Need a Medical Diagnosis
Particularly during the Intake Process, our clients ask why they need a Medical Diagnosis, as well as a Medical Nexus Letter, for their VA Disability Claim. Some veterans approach us about a claim but will tell us what they think is wrong, rather than offering a diagnosis stating what is indeed wrong.
Obtaining a medical diagnosis is the first and most critical step in applying for VA disability benefits. Without a medical diagnosis, you can not service-connect your injury or disability to service. Think of your diagnosis as the confirmation to VA that you do require benefits.
If you are in this situation, there are options. One option is going to a physician or clinic, give them a full explanation of your service and believed disability/injury, if they agree with you, bring that diagnosis to a Veterans Attorney – like Legal Help For Veterans, PLLC or VSO – we can then use that diagnosis to help service-connect your claim.
Veterans Radio – James Barber on the Military and Gaming
Legal Help For Veterans, PLLC is a proud sponsor and Podcast Host of Veterans Radio. In early January of 2021, Host Jim Fausone had the opportunity to chat with James Barber, Off-Duty Editor for Military.com.
In this previous episode, James discusses the role gaming plays in today’s military culture. He references popular games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and World of Tanks. Also mentioning how our service branches are using gaming to appeal to a younger generation.
If you’re not a gamer, take a listen, you’ll hear why troops in the theatre use gaming to keep in contact with friends back home.
Home of Heroes – Silver Star Award Recipients
Every episode of 4 Minutes With LHFV features a Heroes Story from Home of Heroes. We have shared several remarkable Medal of Honor stories. But this week, we wanted to share our collection of Silver Star Award recipients. The Silver Star is the third-highest military decoration for valor in combat.
On Home of Heroes, you’ll learn about the award’s criteria, its origination, as well as recipients accompanied with citations. One fun fact, despite its name, the Silver Star is not made of real Silver, but gilt-bronze.
