Verifying PTSD Stressors, Ford Proud to Honor, Charles Lindbergh MOH

May 05, 2021

Veterans Attorney Jim Fausone joins us to discuss three interesting topics for the week. We will discuss verifying PTSD stressors for a VA disability claim; a previous Veterans Radio podcast featuring Army Col. Vanessa Benson (ret.) to talk about Ford Motor Company’s #ProudToHonor campaign; as well as a Heroes Story from Home of Heroes, this week’s featured story follows famed aviator Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr.

Verifying PTSD Stressors

In a routine VA disability claim for PTSD, a veteran must have a diagnosis, a service-connection, and documented stressors that attribute to that service-connection. When you’re in combat, it’s quite easy to prove the stressors of your environment if you are constantly being shot at. This also counts for IEDs detonating, being wounded in combat, among other things.

Now let us look at a claim that is not so obvious, maybe you weren’t shot at or wounded, but there were still stressors that can point to your current condition. This is known as Non-Combat Stressors. Non-combat stressors can include the following:

  • Military sexual trauma
  • Training accidents
  • Witnessing a rape
  • Victim of rape

The most difficult aspect of non-combat stressors is proving them. Primary evidence such as unit reports, service records, or anything documented can be your friend in this case. You can also secondary evidence, things like buddy statements, police reports, photographs taken after-the-fact, or other evidence that would not be included in the primary category.

As you think about establishing your PTSD stressors, think about not only the primary evidence, but the secondary evidence as well. Contact Legal Help For Veterans, PLLC if you’re having trouble with a VA disability claim for PTSD.

Veterans Radio – Vanessa Benson Ford #ProudToHonor

Veterans Radio Podcasts:
Ford Motor Company Military Ambassador, Army Col. Vanessa Benson (ret.)

This was a very interesting podcast episode; we had the opportunity to chat with Army Colonel Vanessa Benson (ret.), a third-generation Colonel – how many families can say that? – and current Military Ambassador for Ford Motor Company.

She joins Host Jim Fausone to talk about Ford’s commitment to the veteran community, their #ProudToHonor campaign, and the lessons she’s learned about transitioning back into civilian life.

Home of Heroes – Charles Lindbergh MOH

Charles A. Lindbergh

One of the great tragedies today is the often forgotten history of our military. Home of Heroes was established to help preserve the great service and actions of our nation’s service members and branches.

But an even greater tragedy occurred the other week, we ran into a youngster that has never heard of Charles Lindbergh! What are they teaching in school’s these days?

Seeing a great opportunity, we wanted to mention the Heroic Story of Charles Lindbergh hosted on Home of Heroes. Charles was an American aviator who rose to international prominence in 1927 after being the first person to fly solo and nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean in his monoplane, the Spirit of St. Louis.

Lindbergh would go on to receive the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest honor, for his non-stop flight. In fact, Lindbergh’s feat was so influential, it virtually established Missouri as a pioneer in the aviation industry.
